Raised in Wolverhampton, Beverley began singing in school and church choirs.
Her debut single, 'Flavour of the Old School', became a top 40 hit in the UK and
resulted in an international fanbase. This was followed by a debut album, 'B Funk'
(1995), described by one reviewer as 'thebest British soul album ever'.
1998 saw the release of Beverley's second album, the hugely successful 'Prodigal
Sista'. It contained the hit singles 'Sista Sista', 'Made it Back' and 'Rewind', as well
as another standout track,' A.W.O.L'.
In 1999 Beverley Knight triumphed at the MOBO Awards, winning two prizes -
Best
R&B Artist and Best Album (for 'Prodigal Sista').
'Who Am I' entered the UK album charts at number seven in March 2002 and was
certified gold status within a few weeks. The first single, 'Get Up', was released in
October 2001 and was a top 20 hit and a club smash, riding high in the club/dance
charts. The second single, Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda', was Beverley's first UK top
ten
hit. The third single, 'Gold', released in June 2002 was another top 30 hit and sent
Who I Am back into the top 20 album chart.

Beverley undertook a headline tour of the UK in May. This was followed by
appearances at various European festivals through the summer including
